The players compete for the treasure markers, which are arranged in order of value on the individual bay maps. The first one to reach a treasure with one of their plundering parties gets to keep it. However, part of the path is still hidden and must first be explored. The direct route is not always the most successful. Those who use their playing cards and the important explorer cards wisely and have the necessary bit of luck on their side will be able to collect the most valuable treasures.
