Blind Chicken

Even a blind chicken can find a grain of corn. Following this motto, players try to acquire the most valuable collection of poultry for their own coop in this clever auction game.

An auctioneer offers three cards containing chickens of different colors and values. However, he only reveals two or even just one of them for everyone to see – the rest remains hidden! This allows the auctioneer to unsettle the others with his opening bid. Is there perhaps a blind chicken in the pack that would result in negative points? Those who have already collected enough grain can buy with confidence, because together with grain, the blind chickens also yield positive points.

Since each player can only make one bid, you have to think carefully about whether you really want this pig, or rather, this chicken in a poke. After all, you have to pay for the purchase with cards you already have in your display. While points are offered for the largest number of cards in a color, you're reluctant to use them to pay for new cards whose colors you can only guess at. At the end of the game, the point values of the three best colors in each display, as well as the majority of cards in each of the five colors, count. There are also negative points for the blind hens collected—or substantial positive points for each blind hen that finds a grain.
