Vikings approaching

A game for 2 players, in which the aim is to be the first to collect at least 3 of each type of resource.

Contents:

• 6 ship cards

• 5 dice

Set-up:

Shuffle the ships and then lay them out in a row next to one another in the centre.

The player who was last on a ship goes first.

Gameplay:

The active player rolls the dice. They must then place the 5 dice on the first 5 ships. The following rules apply:

• Mill: The mill activates a ship. The player receives a resource or may use the 3:1 rule. To use the 3:1 rule, the player must have three of any one resource; they may then take any one resource of their choice.

• Club: If the club lands on a resource, the player may steal one of that resource from an opponent.

• Fire: If the fire lands on a resource, one of the player’s own resources of that type burns and must be removed from the board. If the 3:1 ship is on fire, any resource must be surrendered.

• Knight: If the knight is on a resource, this is noted for that resource. This prevents the ‘Fire’ event and the ‘Steal’ action.

• Question mark: Nothing happens.

The effects are noted down on a piece of paper. This includes resources gained or stolen, and the knights (assigned to the resources).
